In exchange for helping us to frame and do finish carpentry work on some small, natural structures on our land in NE Missouri, we would trade room and board along with hands-on experience in natural building and plasters. We are looking for a skilled/experienced carpenter interested in staying at least 3 months for next year's building season.<br><br>I am a natural builder with 6 years of professional experience working as a contractor in the Midwest. I've recently joined a small intentional
community in NE Missouri called the Possibility Alliance, based on Gandhian principles of simple living and service work. I am helping to build some housing and other structures on the 80-acre property, and am looking for someone
with a complimentary skill set to mine. I have basic carpentry skills, but am looking to bolster my knowledge of round-wood and post and beam framing and other general woodworking. <br><br><span>Conversely, I have experience working and volunteering on 40+ natural building projects using strawbale, straw clay, wattle and daub, cordwood and cob construction techniques, as well as natural plasters, paints and earthen floors. I spent two months interning with premier strawbalers Bill and Athena Steen of the Canelo Project (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.caneloproject.com">www.caneloproject.com</a>)</span><cite></cite>, and have studied with natural builders around the country and across the globe. I love to teach and share my skills and knowledge with other builders and enthusiasts. petroleum-free as possible. We focus instead on finding
simple, local, creative and joyful solutions to living life fully while still collaborating with the industrialized and electronic culture around us. We use hand tools to build and do work around the farm, burn hand-made beeswax candles for light, eat local foods, burn wood for cooking and heat, play games and interact frequently with our neighbors and local friends, and use bikes, horses and public transportation to get around. We are about 40 miles from the tri-communities of Dancing Rabbit, Sandhill Farm, and Red Earth Farms, and we really enjoy our connection with this progressive and passionate bunch.
